Prayer for Generosity
Lord Jesus, teach me to be generous;
teach me to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to seek reward,
except that of knowing that I do your will.
Amen.

Can't sleep
It's now midnight on a good friday here in London.
I can't sleep
Lot of work
Love work though
But a lot of work
Lately been having to put off fires from different directions
Hardly had time to actually do a good job
Just surviving
But doing what I love
Grateful to do what I love
Working on other projects
Working with people I really respect and care about
Going to Singapore, HK and Manila next week
Possibly Shanghai- but unlikely
Can't sleep
Worried
Not worried
Angry
Not angry
Forgived
Not forgiven
Need to sleep
Need to sleep
I can't sleep

Nothing to be ashamed of
Do you know how it is when you work for a company based abroad and you start managing projects back home?
I often get strange comments from my fellow kababayans when they find out that there is a Pinay working in the London office. I start speaking to them in Tagalog, and they do feel at home.
The funny thing is, I get so conscious about the fact that I am 'lucky' enough to be working abroad. I try never to speak to them in my American accent and always talk to them in Tagalog, even joking with them and saying 'po' and 'opo'. Trying to make sure that I don't offend anyone- especially as I am younger, yet here I am managing much more senior people back home.
Sometimes at the back of my mind I wonder if they think I really deserve to be in my job. I mean I didn't marry a foreigner (didn't marry a British guy, so hence didn't get a free ride to London), I didn't study abroad for my undergrad, I am not from a wealthy family that could afford to get me this job in London, I am not an investment banker nor was I transferred from an office in Asia to London, I don't have an in-demand job like a nurse or a teacher or an IT engineer. Sometimes the way these people treat me - its as if they can't believe that I actually got this job because I happened to study hard in school and work my way up (granted, the working my way up was quick). And not because may kakilala ako sa loob.
But, really why should I be ashamed of that? Intimidated by them? I got this job because I happened to be qualified to do it. In fact, I think those who want to treat me badly (and they're Filipino too!!!!) are just jealous, I swear. Pinaghirapan ko po ito- nag-aral ako ng mabuti, hindi ako nagpatulong sa magulang ko (they paid for my college education and supported me, but I never asked them to help me find a job) and most importantly I never never never gave up on my dream.

Proud to be Paulinian from Pque!
I recently saw the following posts in a forum about exclusive schools in Manila:
5. ST. PAUL - PARAÑAQUE - If I would be given the chance to choose a school when I was younger, I would definitely NOT choose St. Paul - Parañaque. Why? because I did not learn anything and the location is not that nice (it's very near the wet market). If St. Scho tolerates girl-to-girl relationships, St. Paul Parañaque encourages it. I even know one female teacher who had a relationship with one student which is totally disgusting! They even forced the senior high school students during my time to take that CAT/ACP Training which aggravated the perennial predicament of that school! The students here are extreme - it's either they're super flirt enough to be considered wh*res or they're veritable tomboys enough to be mistaken as MEN, or worse, they look like ruffians! I'm sorry for being so candid and I'm not trying to malign the school but that was what I experienced, saw, and felt.
and another one
st. paul is okay...except for the one in pque.
i have worked with girls from spc-pque and they always struggle with their written english. just my observation.
Well, ladies- I happen to come from that s**hole you call St Paul Paranaque. And I turned out pretty well...
Is that why people give me strange looks when I tell them I come from St Paul Pque? Never thought of that.
I am proud to be from SPCPque. I had a lot of fun times in that school and learned a whole lot. Our directress encouraged me to apply in Ateneo and I got in (and graduated with honours)! A lot of my batchmates went on to UP, La Salle and UST, some even graduated with top honours as well. Oh and I never had a lesbian relationship-and I was never encouraged by anyone to engage in it. I don't think I was a wh*re- I'm still pretty conservative. And what about Paulinians from Pque having such bad English-uhhmmm missy, I happened to study in Oxford so don't go and tell people that SPCPque is shit. It isn't.
But what do you know anyway?
You make your life your own, no matter where you come from, which school you are from.
(Sorry, my bitchiness is coming out!)
